Purpose of the Role
As a Forensic Accountant, you will play a crucial role in uncovering financial irregularities, analysing complex financial data, providing expert testimony in legal proceedings, and supporting the Director of Ellacotts Forensic Services in report writing for a range of clients. This vacancy is for either our Banbury or Birmingham office.
Responsibilities
Financial Analysis
- Conducting in-depth analysis of financial records, transactions, and statements to identify discrepancies, fraud, or misconduct.
- Utilizing forensic accounting techniques to trace funds, uncover hidden assets, and detect financial manipulation.
- Assessing financial damages and quantifying losses in legal disputes or insurance claims.
Investigation
- Gather evidence and obtain information relevant to financial investigations.
- Collaborating with law enforcement agencies, solicitors, and other professionals to support criminal or civil investigations.
- Examining electronic data and conducting digital forensics to uncover evidence of financial crimes or fraud.
Reporting and Documentation
- Preparing detailed reports documenting findings, analysis, and conclusions in a clear and concise manner.
- Presenting findings and expert opinions to clients, legal counsel, and regulatory authorities.
- Providing support and assistance in the preparation of exhibits, and other legal documents for use in court proceedings.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Assisting clients in implementing effective internal controls and procedures to prevent and detect financial fraud.
- Conducting risk assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions.
- Staying informed about changes in accounting standards, regulations, and industry best practices related to forensic accounting.

Critical Knowledge Required
- Knowledge of Accounting systems including, Xero and other software as required. Knowledge of their uses and benefits
- In-depth accounts preparation knowledge
Qualifications Required
Essential: ACA or ACCA qualified
Desirable: Degree or equivalent experience
Experience Required
Essential: Minimum of 2 years proven accounts experience within a practice environment
Desirable: Experience with cloud accounting software such as Xero
